During the battle for Okinawa a shell became lodged in this gun and my father removed it before it blew up

Captain Duff said he saved the ship because if the shell had gone off it would have sunk the ship.

The Captain ask my father if he wanted a medal and my dad said no he was just doing his duty

I have petitioned the National Archives for Military Records for the Captain's Logbook. When I get

It I will post it on this site
